Mosque beats traffic in battle of the wails
I’m currently in Istanbul (leave tomorrow evening to Denizli). It’s a real cool city, East meets west and all of that. I strolled down from the Bazaar area towards the blue mosque at about noon. Near to me, the mosques seem to be just a couple of hundred metres apart. As I walked I was surrounded by a wall of sound, as the people were called to prayer. It was a very surreal feeling, I’m still amazed that anything can drown out the sound of the traffic in Istanbul!
This afternoon I nipped from Europe over to Asia and back to Europe again on the ferry, like you do
